No for Corruptors Uniform

KPK (Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi – Corruption Eradication Commission) gets the media highlight lately for their plan to put the accused of corruption crime in specially design uniform and put them on handcuff while they’re tried in Special Corruption Court (Pengadilan Tindak Pidana Korupsi). While this seems to be a good initiative by KPK, I believe there are several things to point out here.
The main issue here is about the principle of equality before the law. Even with this new initiative, what seems clear to me is that KPK wants to treat this defendant as a special kind of criminal. Before they wear elegant clothing, from formal three piece suite to some religious clothing, now they want to give them special uniform. Come on guys why don’t just treat them equal with other criminal. If the chicken thieves (none of that profession anymore I’m afraid, they steal better thing these day) wear their prison uniform while they tried – put those corruptor in the same uniform. If those murderer being handcuffed than put those treat those corruptor in handcuffed too. It’s easier to be done and won’t take that long actually.
Further thing that I’ve been consider is why the hell did they have to make fuss with such trivial thing like this. Isn’t there other more important issues discuss? What about witness protection program, reverse prove for the defendant, and such stuff. I’m afraid this whole thing is only a sham, may be not though let’s see how this thing work out in a couple months.
